Dear Colleagues and Friends  

I am very pleased to invite you to IFFAS 2024, the 8th Scientific Meeting of the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies, hosted by the Asian Federation of Foot and Ankle Surgeon (AFFAS) to be held in 2024 at the Coex convention center in Seoul, Korea.  

Since 2020, most International meetings have been delayed or canceled because of the crisis caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, IFFAS 2020 was delayed to 2022, and IFFAS 2023 was also delayed to 2024.   Despite this, I believe that IFFAS 2024 will be a wonderful international gathering of scientists and clinicians from all continents like previous IFFAS meetings.

IFFAS 2024 will be an international platform for exchanging in-depth knowledge and new treatment methods on both traditional and new topics in the field of foot and ankle orthopedic medicine. Moreover, IFFAS 2024 will be the first international event in Asia after the COVID-19 crisis. This meeting will inform both the characteristics of Asian foot and ankle problems and Asian academic development in this field, and it will provide plentiful opportunities for exchange. The AFFAS meeting will be held on May 30, 2024—in advance of IFFAS 2024 which will take place from May 31 to June 1, 2024.  

The Korean Foot & Ankle Society (KFAS), the main organizing group of IFFAS 2024, was established in 1991 and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2021. The KFAS, one of the world’s leading societies in the foot and ankle fields, has almost 600 members and has recently been making great achievements in the academic field.  

In addition, the host city, Seoul—a megalopolis with 600 years of history as a capital city, where visitors can feel both the beauty of the past and the prosperity of the present—provides convenient and world-class facilities. In addition to attending high-quality conferences, visitors will be able to experience the beauty of the past while enjoying Seoul, the home of K-pop and K-culture, a leading cultural phenomenon in the modern world.

As the President of the Korean Foot and Ankle Society (KFAS), I am pleased to inform you that all members of the KFAS have been busy preparing for next year’s IFFAS meeting, together with the current organizing members. 

This upcoming IFFAS meeting will be a gathering of orthopedic surgeons from all over the world, where they will be able to share knowledge while having an enjoyable time together. We are preparing diligently to provide a valuable time to share the latest knowledge and information in a good environment. I hope that many families and acquaintances can also join and enjoy the opportunity to feel the dynamic atmosphere as well as the splendor of Seoul, whose history goes back one thousand years. 

The IFFAS meeting will help to develop a stronger connection among orthopedic surgeons around the world. Please stay tuned for more series of news to be delivered until the opening of IFFAS meeting. I look forward to meeting you soon.

I am Hyung Jin Chung, the IFFAS 2024 Seoul Meeting local general secretary and President of KFAS.

The IFFAS 2024 Meeting will be hosted by the Asian Federation of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (AFFAS),and organized by the Korean Foot and Ankle Society (KFAS).

It is our greatest honor and privilege to host the 8th Scientific Meeting of the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies (IFFAS) from May 31 to June 1, 2024 at Coex Convention Center in Seoul, Korea.

COVID-19 has presented many challenges, but the world is working together to overcome this global disaster. With the ongoing belief that everything will get back on track and return to normalcy as soon as possible, we are sure that this 2024 Seoul Meeting will be a rewarding and unforgettable experience for participants coming from around the world.

Over our country’s 5,000-year history, Koreans have developed a unique indigenous culture, and representative cultural properties can be found throughout the peninsula.

Koreans place a high value on learning and have earned a reputation for diligence and dedication. Seoul, the host city of the IFFAS 2024, is rich in historical and cultural heritage and it also offers every possible convenience as well as world-class facilities representative of the international megalopolis that the city has become in the modern day. Featuring pleasant weather, the period between May and June is the best time to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery that the capital has to offer. Gangnam, where the meeting will take place, is a center of culture, arts, and businesses, and Coex is Korea’s greatest exhibition and convention venue. The KFAS is one of the world’s leading academic societies related to foot and ankle fields. The AFFAS has continued its development through active academic exchanges via webinar and other meetings among members. We hope to expand such exchanges during the IFFAS and AFFAS Meetings.

We at KFAS truly wish to have the privilege to share our experience and knowhow with colleagues from around the world through IFFAS 2024. I would like to personally invite each one of you to attend the 2024 IFFAS Meeting in the beautiful and vibrant city of Seoul.
